WE NEED PROTECTION FROM FOREST FIRES!!  I researched and wrote a resolution calling on the Federal government to establish a fleet of waterbombers that could be used by the provinces.

My “Waterbomber” resolution eventually made it all the way to the federal theatre.   In 2026, it was supported by the FCM, (The Federation of Canadian Municipalities).  Calvin Township was mentioned as the originator and its content was discussed at meetings of the Provincial Prime Ministers.

Our resident need to feel safe in their own homes.  in 2025, I introduced a motion to support the home owners because the current self-defence laws do not provide sufficient or clear protection for individuals who lawfully defend themselves and their families during violent intrusions

$1.2 Million Dollars in Debt!   — Not!   Our financial statements now lists our 30-year commitment to Casselholme.  This is not a debt; it is what we have to pay.  Each of the other nine municipalities have a similar commitment.   I brought forth a resolution to stop overcharging Calvin by using the antiquated CVA formula.

Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park is in Calvin Township.  The park was destroyed by the storm of 2025 and the province gave 5 million dollars in funding to bring it back to life.   I was at the announcement with three provincial ministers and we each gave a speech about the park.  I also spoke about the Calvin Fire Department and what they did that night .   Afterwards, council planted a tree to start the regrowth.

The Damage caused by the storm of June 2025 did not just damage the park, it damaged large area of crown land and private land.   I felt it was necessary to call on the Government to support the private land owners.  Despite pressure, support was not forthcoming.
